'Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear detective Don Flack Jr, happy birthday to me,' Flack though to himself, walking around the kitchen. He was shoeless, wearing his jeans and a tshirt, relaxing on his day off, which the Lieutenant had been nice enough to grant him. He poured himself a beer and walked into the living room.

So, we re-formatted the entire machine, and it's working like a dream now. It's fantastic.
So yes, I'm back. :D

Flack takes Danny's beer and sets it down, watching Ace leave the room.
"Hey, you," Flack says, and his voice is gentle.

He was nothing if not punctual.
He opened the door, and he gaped a little, because there, on his couch was something he hadn't been expecting. Well, not so soon.
He took in the sight of Danny wearing only his boxers, and Lindsay, mostly naked, underneath him.
"Well, it looks like I missed the invite to the party." Yeah. He was a little hurt.

From HereHe wanted to go back to normal, and he was getting back to normal.
Well, as normal as he and Danny could ever be.
He didn't move, just smiled again aware of Danny's eyes on his. He was waiting for Danny to make the first move, to tell him this was all ok.

Religion
Religion has always been personal to Don. He wasn't raised anything in particular, though he'd had the fear of God, or rather his father, put into him on more than on occasion. But going to Church with the whole family, or with friends, or discussing religious views...
It just wasn't his thing. He'd seen Stella and Danny and Hawkes nearly come to fisticuffs over a religious discussion, and he'd stood nearby, mouth shut. Part of him didn't want to be thought stupid, because he honestly didn't know much about what they were talking about. But a larger part of him was just not interested in sharing what he thought were personal views.
He'd always liked midnight Mass though. Christmas Eve, midnight in New York City. Nothing was stirring not even the rats. He had a quiet little Anglican church he liked to go to. It wasn't very full, lots of room. He liked to sit nearly at the back, side pew, so he could slip out right after, before the benediction. Something about being blessed like that made him a little paranoid. Like knocking on wood. Enough trouble in his life without double crossing something and making it worse.
Mostly he liked the quiet. He liked stopping to think. He felt like things weren't his responsibility once he stepped into the church. It was out of his hands. He didn't have to worry.
